Terms of use
Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and Acreed Insights Limited for using the Acreed Insights platform. Please read them. By creating an account, or by continuing to use the platform after we publish a new version, you agree to them.
Who these terms are between
Acreed Insights Limited (RC 9357855), a company registered in Lagos, Nigeria ("Acreed", "we", "us"), and you: the business or organisation that holds the account, and each person who uses the platform on its behalf. A person who signs up on behalf of a business confirms they are allowed to bind it to these terms.
The service
Acreed Insights has two parts.
- Acreedify verifies a business and the people who direct it against official records, reads the bank statements the business connects, and produces an Acreed Credibility Score out of 100 with a band. A business whose score reaches the certificate floor receives a certificate that funders can check.
- AcreedPulse lets a funder follow the health of a facility it has funded, through the borrower's connected bank feed, for as long as the borrower consents and the facility runs.
Acreed is not a bank, a lender or a credit bureau. We do not lend money, take deposits, hold or move funds, or decide whether anyone is lent to. A funder's decision to fund, on what terms, is the funder's alone, made under its own rules and licences. Repayments go directly between a business and its funder; Acreed only records what it is told or can see.
Your account
You must give true, current and complete information, keep it up to date, and keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us at once at support@acreedinsights.com if you believe someone else has used it.
A business account can have several people on it, with different roles. The business's owner and administrators may add and remove people and change what the business shares. A person removed from a business loses access to its data straight away.
Verification, scores and certificates
Verification checks are run against official and third-party records: the CAC company registry, the national identity (NIN) and bank verification (BVN) records, the tax authority, licensed credit bureaus, and the bank accounts you connect. Every check needs your consent, and each named director gives their own consent for their own checks. We tell you before a check runs what it will read, and we record each consent.
Some details are locked once an official record confirms them. For example, once the CAC register confirms your registration number, the number, the register and the registered name cannot be changed on the platform. If your registration genuinely changes, contact us.
The score is an opinion based on evidence, not a promise. It reflects the records and statements we could read at the time, under the rules published on your score page. It is not financial advice, a credit decision, or a guarantee that any funder will fund you. A certificate is valid for the period shown on it and says what the score was on the day it was issued. A certificate can be withdrawn if we find that the evidence behind it was false, or that an official record has changed.
You must not try to improve a score by giving us information you know to be untrue, by presenting someone else's identity or accounts, or by any other dishonest means. Doing so ends your account and may be reported.
Fees and credits
Some parts of the platform are paid for. A business pays a verification fee before its checks run; the fee covers a set number of checks, enough for a complete run and a retry, and we tell you before you pay what it covers. A funder pays a subscription for its directory listing and application tools, and buys credits that are used as monitoring runs. Prices are shown on the platform before you pay and may change for future purchases; a change never applies to something you have already paid for.
Payments are processed by Paystack. We do not see or store your card details. Fees are not refunded once the checks they paid for have run, except where the law requires it.
What funders agree to
A funder receives a business's application, score and band, the outcomes of its verification checks, and the documents the business chose to include, only because the business applied to that funder. A funder may use that information only to assess and manage that application and any facility that follows, must keep it confidential and secure, must not pass it to anyone outside its organisation except as the law requires, and must not use it for marketing or sell it. Where we require it, the people who act for a funder go through identity checks before they can handle applicant data. A funder that breaks these rules loses access.
Your data and privacy
How we collect, use, share and protect personal information is set out in our privacy notice, which forms part of these terms. In short: identity checks run only with consent, bank access is read-only and yours to revoke, we do not sell your information, and you can delete your account and data from your settings.
Acceptable use
You must not use the platform to break any law, to impersonate anyone, to upload content that is false, infringing or harmful, to probe or disrupt our systems, to scrape or copy data you were not given, or to build a competing service from our data. We may suspend or close an account that does any of these.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the platform available but cannot promise it will never be interrupted. We may change or withdraw features, and we may update these terms. When a change matters to you we will ask you to accept the new version when you next sign in; the version you accepted is always available to read.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited. Otherwise, Acreed is not liable for a funder's decision or conduct, for loss caused by information you or a third party gave us that was wrong, for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business or opportunity. Our total liability to you for anything arising from the platform in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period.
Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time from your settings; this deletes your data as described in the privacy notice. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where the law requires. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as those on data, liability and governing law, continue after the account ends.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute that cannot be settled by discussion will be heard by the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
