Have these ready

  • Your BVN or NIN, and your name and date of birth as they appear on that record.
  • A government ID: an international passport, a driver’s licence, a voter’s card, or a national ID card or NIN slip with your photo.
  • A camera, on your computer or your phone, for a selfie.
  • Your CAC registration number and your Tax Identification Number (TIN).
  • Your business’s operating address and a proof of address.
  • Online banking for your business account.
  • Your CAC certificate and tax clearance certificate as files.
  • The names and emails of any co-directors.

The steps

Open Get Verified and press Begin verification, after ticking the consent box. If a fee applies, you see it and pay it with Paystack before any check runs. One fee covers a set number of checks — enough for a full run and a retry; if you use them all, you are asked to pay again before more checks run. Then:

  1. Confirm your identity. Enter your name and date of birth, then your BVN or NIN, and press Check. At least one must match your name.
  2. Upload a government ID. Choose the type, add a clear photo of it, and add a passport photograph.
  3. Prove it’s really you. Take a selfie. See your identity check and selfie.
  4. Your credit history. Tick the consent box and press Run my credit check.
  5. Your business registration. Enter your registered business name, choose how it is registered, then type the number from your CAC certificate exactly as printed (RC, BN or IT followed by the digits). Check it twice: once the register confirms the number, the name, register and number are locked. Then your sector and your TIN. The CAC number and TIN are checked against the official records.
  6. Your business address. Enter your operating address and state, and upload a recent proof of address. Our document reader compares it with what you typed, then a member of Acreed’s team confirms your business is there. See your business address.
  7. Connect your bank. Link your business account, read-only. See connect your bank.
  8. Upload your documents. Add your CAC certificate and tax clearance certificate, and any collateral documents.
  9. Your directors. Invite each co-director to verify their own identity. See your co-directors.
  10. Review & issue. Check the list. If you have no collateral, tick the box to accept that it is not included. Then press Generate my certificate.

Your progress saves as you go. Press Back and Continue to move between steps, or tap any row on the review list to jump to it.

What you see at the end

Your score earned a certificate. Share it. If you are the owner, choose whether funders can find you.

A few things to finish first
A step is incomplete. The list shows which.

When a check fails or cannot run

A check that did not match shows the reason, for example a TIN that does not match your RC number. Fix the detail and check again. If the provider behind a check is busy or down, the check says so. That does not count against you, so try again a little later.

Questions

How long does it take?

Most checks answer in seconds, so you can finish in one sitting if you have everything ready. Your score waits for Acreed’s team to confirm your address. If you have co-directors, it waits until each of them has verified, and if your bank is still preparing your statement, it waits for that too.

Can I stop and come back later?

Yes. Your progress saves as you go. Open Get Verified again to pick up where you left off.
